Project

“Clean technologies for sustainable environment – waters, waste, energy for circular economy“ (Clean&Circle) for creation and development of a Centre of Competence

On October 14, 2019, at 3:00 p.m., the modernized laboratories of the Faculty of Hydraulic Engineering and the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG) were officially opened.

This is the first stage of the planned upgrades of existing laboratories and the acquisition of new equipment within the Competence Center “Clean&Clear.” The Center will be established as part of the project “Clean Technologies for a Sustainable Environment – Water, Waste, Energy for a Circular Economy,” funded by the Operational Program “Science and Education for Smart Growth,” co-financed by the European Union through the European Structural and Investment Funds.

The laboratories were opened by the Rector of UACEG, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ivan Markov, and the project coordinator, Prof. DSc. Yana Topalova, who expressed their confidence that the laboratories will be accessible to researchers, lecturers, and students from the faculties of UACEG, as well as to students, doctoral candidates, and researchers from partner organizations in the project aimed at developing high-level scientific and technical achievements. This will also be promoted through the upcoming activities of the project, whose goal is to build effective infrastructure and research capacity for the development of innovations in the circular economy, with a focus on water, energy, and waste management.
