Project

“Clean technologies for sustainable environment – waters, waste, energy for circular economy“ (Clean&Circle) for creation and development of a Centre of Competence

The XI
Sofia Science Festival
is coming up, bringing together an exceptional lineup of scientists from Bulgaria and 12 countries around the world, including leading global experts.

This year’s topics will once again be timely and diverse: viruses and vaccines, fake news and the psychology of loneliness; the Big Bang and molecular machines, evolution and civilizations, waste reincarnation and ecology.

The participation of the Competence Center 'Clean&Circle' includes the lecture by Prof. Dr. Pavlina Dolashka – "Healthy People on a Healthy Planet" and the workshop "The Healing Snail". You can also find us at the interactive science booth, where we will show you how useful waste can be!

HEALTHY PEOPLE ON A HEALTHY PLANET

15 May 2021, Saturday -

15:30 to 16:30, “Laboratory” Hall in partnership with Aurubis | for the general public | free admission with passes

Organic and waste products can support human health and help keep our planet clean. Let us look together at nature as a source of raw materials for human health, without harming the environment and its inhabitants. Prof. Pavlina Dolashka from the Institute of Organic Chemistry with Centre of Phytochemistry – BAS presents which extracts from plant and animal species are used in the development of products for cosmetics, as well as for the supportive treatment of serious diseases.

Prof. Dolashka and her team have dozens of developments implemented in cosmetic and medical practice, which have beneficial effects on stomach and joint problems, side effects during chemotherapy, recovery from severe postoperative wounds, and more. All of them have no side effects for patients and no harmful impact on the environment.

THE HEALING SNAIL

16 May 2021, Sunday

16:30 and 18:00 | “Cotangens” Hall | for the general public | entry with tickets

In the science workshop of Prof. Pavlina Dolashka you will step into the shoes of a researcher and create a cosmetic product for health. You will use waste products – snail extract, plant extract, and vitamins, and then you will be able to keep samples of the product you developed. Prof. Pavlina Dolashka and her team from the Institute of Organic Chemistry with Centre of Phytochemistry – BAS have been developing health and cosmetic products based on snails and studied biocomponents for years. Many of these products are successfully applied in medicine.

Welcome to the Sofia Science Festival 2021 for another dose of inspiration – on 15 and 16 May at Sofia Tech Park and on 17 and 18 May – digitally for students!

Due to the epidemic situation, changes may occur in the program – in the dates and times of the events, as well as in the format (digital or live). Please follow the festival page for the most up-to-date information.
