On 12.03.2025, a meeting was held between the teams and leadership of the Institute of Organic Chemistry with Centre of Phytochemistry - BAS (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kalina Alipieva and Prof. Dr. Milena Popova) and the Rector of the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arch. Gichka Kutova-Kamenova, partners in the Competence Centre "Clean Technologies for a Sustainable Environment – Water, Waste, Energy for the Circular Economy".
Leading researchers from IOHCF-BAS, Prof. Dn. Eng. Pavlina Dolashka and Prof. Dn. Narcislav Petrov, introduced their work to the leading researchers from UACEG, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Rumyana Zaharieva, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Galina Dimova-Boykinova, and Prof. Dr. Eng. Irina Ribarova.
The Clean & Circle Competence Centre, established under the Operational Programme "Science and Education for Smart Growth" (OP NISR) and supported through the “Research, Innovation and Digitalization for Intelligent Transformation” programme (RIDIT), focuses on creating, applying, and validating innovative solutions to optimize and accelerate biogas production and other products from biodegradable waste processing. The approach is rooted in circular economy and bioeconomy principles, transforming all waste into valuable products.
The IOHCF-BAS team presented the state-of-the-art equipment available at the Clean & Circle Centre, including:
- UHPLC-QqTOF Mass Spectrometry System – BRUKER compact UHPLC/QqTOF-MS/MS;
- Raman Microscope with Built-in Spectrometer – SENTERRA II;
- FPLC Liquid Chromatography System – AKTA pure 25M (Cytiva);
- AZURA Compact Gradient HPLC System (KNAUER);
- Simultaneous Thermal Analyzer – STA 449 F3 (Netzsch, Germany) for TG, DTA, and DSC;
- Organic Elemental Analyzer – Elementar vario MACRO cube;
- Porosimeter – Autosorb iQ-MP (1 STAT.) VITON.
