Team - Institute of Microbiology "Stefan Angelov" - Bulgarian Academy of Sciences
LABORATORY FOR SOLID WASTE TREATMENT
Activities
Training: Practical training of students in the specialty "Ecology and Environmental Protection". Training and conducting research of graduates in scientific specialty "Ecology and Environmental Protection" and PhDs in science "Ecology and conservation of ecosystems."
Research: Research and analysis on research and development projects on technology for waste treatment. Research on the production of compost enriched with macro and microelements. Studies on the possibility of recovery of certain waste for importation of food macronutrients and micronutrients in some compost. Research on the possibility of recycling composite waste. Studies on the possibility of processing sewage sludge and using it as a resource. The laboratory equipment is provided on a project BG05M2OP001-1.002-0019: "Clean technologies for sustainable environment - water, waste, energy for circular economy", financed by the Operational Program "Science and education for smart growth", financed by the European Union through the European structural and investment funds.
Diagnostic: Investigation of production and operation of companies that want to implement circular economy. Consultations and expertise in the field of waste treatment technologies.

LABORATORY FOR ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION, REHABILITATION OF DISTURBED TERRAINS AND ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING
Activities
Training: Practical training of students in the specialty "Ecology and Environmental Protection". Training and conducting research of graduates in scientific specialty "Ecology and Environmental Protection" and PhDs in science "Ecology and conservation of ecosystems."
Research: Research and analysis on scientific and applied projects related to the monitoring of certain environmental components (atmospheric air, soil and plants). Measurement of concentrations of nitrogen oxides, ozone and PM10; Investigation of the content of nutrients and heavy metals in plant samples; Determination of pigments in plant specimens; Investigation of substrates from disturbed fields from mining activities, etc. The laboratory equipment has been provided under various projects - «Assessment and monitoring of the impact of polluted air on forest ecosystems» - provided by the EEA to the Ministry of Environment and Water, under projects of the Scientific Research Fund of the University of Forestry. Air pollution measurement equipment received in 2020 under Project BG05M2OP001-1.002-0019: Clean Technologies for a Sustainable Environment - Water, Waste, Energy for a Circular Economy, funded by Operational Program "Science and Education for Intelligent Growth" co-financed by the European Union through the European Structural and Investment Funds.
Diagnostic: Consultations and expertise in the field of ambient air monitoring, forest monitoring and rehabilitation of disturbed terrains
