Project

“Clean technologies for sustainable environment – waters, waste, energy for circular economy“ (Clean&Circle) for creation and development of a Centre of Competence

Last week (06.02.2025), the closing conference of the National Scientific Program “Environmental Protection and Risk Reduction from Adverse Events and Natural Disasters” was held, in which the team from the Faculty of Biology, led by Prof. DSc. Yana Topalova, participated.

A report titled “Key Risk Factors for the Implementation of Treatment Processes in Hydroecosystems” was presented by Assoc. Prof. Ivaylo Yotinov. The team from the Faculty of Biology, working on clarifying the role of hydrological risk events in the dynamics of organic matter and biogens in surface water bodies—as a key element of the functioning and ecological integrity of hydroecosystems—included Assoc. Prof. Yovana Todorova, Assoc. Prof. Irina Schneider, Asst. Prof. Mihaela Kirilova, Asst. Prof. Nora Dinova, PhD student Veronika Yordanova, and PhD student Magdalena Bogdanova. Notably, the successful synergy with the Clean & Circle Competence Center project contributed to greater achievements in the program regarding the obtained results.
