On October 23, 2025, PhD student Magdalena Bogdanova from the Faculty of Biology at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, a member of the “Clean&Circle” project team and partner of Sofia University, participated as a lecturer in the Blue Economy Training Day, part of a five-day program dedicated to sustainable development and the blue economy in the Black Sea region.
In her presentation on the topic “WWTP Ravda: Blue Energy, Tourism, and Environmental Protection”, Magdalena Bogdanova presented research focused on the interaction between water treatment technologies, energy efficiency, circular economy, and sustainable development of coastal communities. The lecture sparked interest among the participants and highlighted practical opportunities for integrating innovations into water resource management and tourism.

The event was attended by researchers and experts from Ukraine, Romania, Turkey, and Bulgaria, with PhD student Bogdanova participating in collaboration with the team of the Faculty of Economics at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. The training day was part of an international initiative aimed at knowledge exchange and partnership building in the field of the blue economy.
The five-day training concluded with the forum “Black Sea 2030 – Partnership for a Sustainable Future”, held in Burgas, which brought together representatives of national and local authorities, European institutions, academia, business, and the non-governmental sector. Key topics of the forum included the green transition, protection of the marine and coastal environment, climate change adaptation, digitalization, and innovations in the blue economy.
