“Clean technologies for sustainable environment – waters, waste, energy for circular economy“ (Clean&Circle) for creation and development of a Centre of Competence

On October 28, 2025, the Center of Competence Clean&Circle was presented during the Innovation Day under the project EIT HEI CLIMATE ENGINE, held at the University of Forestry. The event was dedicated to the topic “Circular Economy – Current Issues and Research” and attracted significant interest among the participants.

During the event, Assoc. Prof. Ivaylo Yotinov – Project Coordinator of the Center of Competence “Clean Technologies for a Sustainable Environment – Water, Waste, Energy for a Circular Economy,” funded under the Programme “Research, Innovation and Digitalization for Smart Transformation”, presented to the participants key results from the implementation of project BG0M2OP001-1-002-0019, funded by OP NOIR. The main goal of the project is the development of high-tech research infrastructure and the enhancement of research capacity in the field of clean technologies. The project coordinator is Prof. Dr. Sc. Yana Topalova.

Assoc. Prof. Yotinov also presented the new business plan of the Center, as well as the new challenges and priorities for the period 2025–2029 under PNIIDIT. He emphasized the importance of strengthening scientific potential, enhancing cooperation between research institutions and industry, as well as integrating scientific achievements into practical business and public solutions aimed at environmental protection and sustainable resource management.

The event concluded with a discussion, during which ideas were exchanged regarding opportunities for partnerships, pilot developments, and future joint initiatives in the field of circular economy and climate innovations.
