An interesting and fruitful meeting of leading researchers in Clean&Circle was held on Friday (October 13) at the Faculty of Biology of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski.” From the presentation of Prof. Dr. Sci. Yana Topalova to the board, it became clear that the Center is in the final stage of a number of activities set in the project for the period 2018–2023. Progress is being made both on the construction of the Center’s building on the SU campus in Lozenets and on the process of transferring technologies from the laboratories to business. The last months before the project’s reporting will be critically important for Clean&Circle, and now the work in all directions must become more intensive.

Present at the meeting were representatives of the Center’s management team, as well as nearly all project partners, including the CleanTech Bulgaria team, who contributed with presentations regarding the remaining activities of the project. A key element was the presentation of the concept for high-speed internet connectivity between the Clean&Circle building under construction in the Lozenets campus and the other buildings where the project partners’ laboratories will be located. The topic was presented in detail to the researchers by Mariyana Hamunova, who also informed the team about the administrative procedures that must be completed for the project’s reporting.

Clean&Circle’s Operational Manager Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irina Schneider and Scientific Manager Assoc. Prof. Dr. Evgeniya Benova presented several critical issues that need to be finalized before the end of the year, including the preparation of a catalog of all the services offered by the Center. 

In the concluding stage of the meeting, participants discussed the specific aspects of intellectual property rights in new scientific developments. What rights does the inventor have, and what rights does their employer hold? These were just some of the questions that the experts debated during the forum. Prof. Kostadinov and his team had prepared templates and other materials, which will be of great help to researchers in presenting their work in the future.
