This year, on the occasion of World Water Day (March 22), the Clean & Circle Competence Center organized a Children's Drawing Contest on the theme "WATER FOR PEACE".
The theme of World Water Day 2024 is "WATER FOR PEACE." This year, we all need to unite around water and use water for peace, laying the foundations for a more stable and prosperous future.
Participate by March 14, 2024, by sending us your drawing illustrating how water can lay the foundations for a peaceful world. Public health and prosperity, food and energy systems, economic productivity, and environmental integrity all rely on a well-functioning and fairly managed water cycle.
Participation requirements:
✦The drawing must relate to the theme "Water for Peace".
✦All interested participants can submit their artwork by 11:00 PM on March 14, 2024, to the email address:

Submissions will be evaluated in TWO age groups!
- up to 10 years old
- from 11 to 18 years old
Drawings should be sent in .jpeg format with the participant's full name, age, and phone/email contact (or parent's contact). By sending a drawing, the sender declares that they have read and accept the terms described in the Participation Declaration. The declaration can be read HERE. This allows a parent, guardian, or authorized person to consent to the child’s participation and the publication of their artwork.
Prizes:
The top three winners will receive special prizes (surprise books).
All other participants will receive a certificate from the contest, as well as the opportunity to attend and participate in a science-popularization water study in the Laboratories of the Faculty of Biology / Department of General and Applied Hydrobiology / on March 22, 2024 (World Water Day) between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM in Room 166 / 1st floor / Faculty of Biology, 8 Dragan Tsankov Blvd., Sofia.

The contest is an initiative of the Clean & Circle Competence Center and the Department of General and Applied Hydrobiology at Sofia University, associated with World Water Day 2024, offering children and youth a chance to express themselves in the field of water conservation.
Key messages for World Water Day 2024
- Water can create peace or trigger conflict. When water is scarce or polluted, or when people compete for access, tensions may rise. By cooperating around water, we can balance everyone’s water needs and help stabilize the world.
- Prosperity and peace depend on water. As nations manage climate change, mass migration, and political unrest, they must place water cooperation at the core of their planning.
- Water can help us overcome crises. We can promote harmony among communities and countries by uniting around fair and sustainable water use – from UN conventions at the international level to local actions.
