Realities Facing Green Europe

What are the benefits and risks for Europe's competitiveness regarding green policies? How can we secure resources for the green transition? The Green Deal in Bulgaria – where do we want to be, and how can we achieve it? Will the configurations of European institutions after the elections lead to a reconsideration of green policies?

These questions will be addressed in the first panel, "Realities Facing Green Europe – Speed, Resources, Security" by Maria Simeonova, Director of the Sofia Office of the European Council on Foreign Relations, Plamen Dimitrov, Member of the Board of the Bulgarian Geopolitical Society, Maria Mincheva, Vice-Chair of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce, and Dr. Petar Popchev, Ambassador, President, and Executive Director of the Net Zero Foundation International Climate Network. Tanya Krasteva, Editor-in-Chief of "Manager" magazine, will moderate the panel.

Waste Management

What are the biggest challenges for recycling due to current legislation? What changes are needed to facilitate the process and make it more effective?

These questions will be explored in a rapid interview on "Innovation and Regulations in Waste Management" with Antonia Spasova, Procurist at "Eco Partners Bulgaria" AD, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marina Stefanova, Vice-Dean for Sustainable Development, Support, and Engagement at the Faculty of Economics, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", and Executive Director of the FEB Foundation.

Bulgaria's Energy Potential

We will discuss the country's energy potential, which can be realized during this transformative period if we overcome sector dependencies. What are the goals and stages of the energy transition? What is the current state of the sector in Bulgaria, and how are the state and private sector mobilizing investments?

Experts discussing these topics on June 4 include Dr. Dragomir Tsanev, Executive Director of "EnEffect", Dr. Yulian Voynov, Director of the "Monitoring and Control of Regulation (EU) 1227/2011 (REMIT)" Directorate at KEVR, and Slavcho Neykov, Chairman of the Board of the Institute for Energy Management. The panel moderator is Apostol Dyankov, Advisor at the Ministry of Environment and Water.

What are the long-term impacts of climate change, and how can businesses adapt?

Frequent climate anomalies and natural disasters will affect businesses in many regions. Agriculture, energy, insurance, and tourism are on the front line, but not the only sectors that need to adjust their business vision. What consequences are already being observed, and how can companies adapt?

Simеon Matev, PhD in climatology and Assistant in the Department of Climatology, Hydrology, and Geomorphology at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", will help answer these questions.

Sustainable Development – More Necessary and Visible than Ever

What is the relationship between sustainable development and competitiveness? How do we integrate sustainability into standard business models and strategies?

These topics will be addressed in the third discussion panel by Lyubomir Lyubenov, Client Collaboration Manager at "Danone Serdika" AD, Anelia Ivanova, Public Relations Manager at "Philip Morris Bulgaria", Theodor Georgiev, Head of Legal and Compliance at "Nestle Bulgaria" and Head of Sustainability for "Nestle Southeastern Europe", and Ivan Dimitrov, Chief Investment Strategist and Portfolio Manager at UBB Asset Management. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marina Stefanova will moderate the panel.

Electric Vehicles vs. ICE – The Future of Mobility

Infrastructure: Is the electrical grid ready, or will it be a stumbling block for electric mobility? Where do we stand on the global map of electric mobility?

Will electric vehicles take a step back or prepare for a leap? Experts discussing this in the fourth panel include Angel Sergeev, journalist at DizzyRiders and international editor at Motor1.com, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Durhan Saliev, Head of the Department of Engines, Automotive Technology, and Transport at the Faculty of Transport, Technical University, Sofia, and Nikola Simon, VP Global Technology Officer at Melexis. Panel moderator: Arch. Lyubomir Stanislavov, Founder and Manager, S Architectural Team.
